On Tuesday September 15, 2009 there was a stabbing at Coral Gables Sr. High Miami,FL. The victim that was stabbed was Juan Carlos Rivera 17. He was stabbed three times, . His heart, below his clavicle bone and on the top of the kidney, dying immediately. This fight was said to be about a girl, said an eyewitness. He was a boy who had just come from Cuba 4 months ago, he stayed in Miami with his uncle and grandmother. His mother who is a doctor in Cuba sent him to Miami so that he can have a future. And all that was taken away on tuesday morning when he was brutally murdered.
The suspect was identified as Andy Jesus Rodriguez, 17. After he stabbed Juan Carlos he ran behind a near by house, where later was taken into custody According to the arrest affidavit, Rodriguez provided a statement admitting to his involvement in the victim's death.
The Cuban mother of slain Coral Gables High student Juan Carlos Rivera arrived from Cuba on Saturday morning. Anais Cruz won final permission Friday afternoon to travel to Miami to attend her son’s funeral. At 3 p.m., the U.S. Interests Section in Havana issued Cruz, 42, a doctor in Cuba, a visa, according to U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Miami, who has been working with Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho to help Cruz make the trip.
A viewing for the teen is set for Monday at La Nacional Funeral Home, 151 NW 37th Ave. Burial will be Tuesday at Flagler Memorial, 5301 W. Flagler St. The teen’s father is traveling from Spain for the services. My condolnences go out to his family and may he Rest In Peace.
